Arnett Had Led Bulldogs to 6-6 Record in First Season
Move Comes Following Team's Loss to Arkansas in ReliaQuest Bowl
STARKVILLE, Miss. — Mississippi State University has fired football coach Zach Arnett, the school announced Monday. Arnett, who was hired in December 2022 following the death of Mike Leach, led the Bulldogs to a 6-6 record in his first season.
The firing comes after Mississippi State lost to Arkansas 24-22 in the ReliaQuest Bowl on Saturday. The Bulldogs finished the season with a losing record in SEC play (3-5).
Arnett, 36, was previously the defensive coordinator at Ole Miss. He is a native of Starkville and played safety for the Bulldogs from 2005 to 2008.
