Dr Michael Mosley: Tributes paid to TV presenter who has died aged 69

'A friend, a teacher and an inspirational figure'

The BBC has announced a special programme commemorating TV presenter Dr Michael Mosley following his death on the Greek island of Symi.

Mosley was last seen by his wife Clare Bailey Mosley at 130pm on Wednesday local time when he went for a short stroll on his own.

His body was found in the sea on Thursday morning.

Mosley was a well-known TV presenter and author, best known for his work on health and science programmes.

He presented the BBC series Trust Me, I'm a Doctor, which explored the latest medical research and advice.

Mosley also wrote several books on health and nutrition, including The Fast Diet and The Clever Guts Diet.

Tributes have been paid to Mosley from across the medical and broadcasting communities.

Professor Robert Winston, a fellow TV presenter and scientist, said: "Michael was a friend, a teacher and an inspirational figure."

"He was a brilliant communicator who made complex scientific concepts accessible to everyone."

"He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and colleagues."

The BBC said in a statement: "We are deeply saddened to hear of the death of Dr Michael Mosley."

"Michael was a hugely talented and passionate presenter who made a significant contribution to the BBC."

"His work on health and science programmes was both informative and entertaining, and he will be greatly missed by our audiences."

Mosley is survived by his wife and three children.
