Knicks Center Mitchell Robinson Out Indefinitely

Robinson Suffers Stress Injury to Surgically Repaired Ankle

Robinson Expected to Miss Remainder of Playoffs

The New York Knicks have been dealt a major blow with the news that center Mitchell Robinson will be out indefinitely due to a stress injury to his surgically repaired left ankle.

Robinson underwent surgery on his left ankle in March 2023 to repair a stress fracture that he sustained in Game 1 of the Knicks' first-round playoff series against the Philadelphia 76ers. He was expected to miss at least six to eight weeks but is now likely to miss the remainder of the Knicks' 2024 playoff run.

It is unclear when Robinson re-injured his ankle. He landed awkwardly after Joel Embiid grabbed his right leg in mid-air during the 4:34 mark of Tuesday's game against the Brooklyn Nets.

Robinson's absence is a significant setback for the Knicks, who are currently the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference. The 25-year-old center is averaging 9.1 points and 9.2 rebounds per game this season.

The Knicks will have to rely on Jericho Sims and Isaiah Hartenstein to fill the void left by Robinson. Sims has started 14 games in Robinson's absence this season, while Hartenstein was acquired from the Los Angeles Clippers at the trade deadline.
